Wide protest by teachers in 70 cities

On the morning of 27th April, teachers in 70 cities in Iran went on strike and organized mass protests.

They had already protest last month and after hundreds of them were arrested or dismissed by the Iranian government. Many of these teachers went to the parliament to express their protest. Some of their slogans are as follows: “Imprisoned teachers must be released”.” Criticism is forbidden - corruption permitted.” In most of these demonstrations, the Iranian government forces tried to disperse the demonstrators, but teachers continued their protest.

Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi said in a message addressed to teachers:

“While teachers are struggling with severe poverty, the riches of the Iranian people is either spent on unpatriotic projects of export of fundamentalism and terrorism, production of the nuclear bomb, beefing up the suppression machine, the revolutionary guards, and the terrorist Qods Force, or is plundered by the leaders of this regime and their families.”
